Recently I listened to a great story on 'PRI – This American Life' about the GM NUMMI plant in Fremont California. It illustrates how to succesfully implement a quality improvement initative and how corporate inertia can kill it. When I heard this story it seemed to echo the same efforts and results we have seen repeated many times in efforts to implement Innovation and Six Sigma practices at different companies.
