There are a lot of items to note in this month’s welcome letter. As ever, we share five articles that cover a variety of TRIZ topics, including a TRIZ game for children, a different way to look at su-field analysis and another interesting paper presented earlier this year at TRIZCON2007. Additionally, we have news about upcoming conferences with registration discounts for TRIZJournal readers and a report of July’s MATRIZ conference.

• The next to last lesson of Val Kraev’s popular Kraev’s Korner series focuses on methods for overcoming psychological inertia. Being able to step back from a problem and look at it with fresh eyes with specific tools is something that will be useful to anyone for problems at all levels.
  
• This month’s Student Corner article is an interview about the use of TRIZ by three teenage girls from Ireland courtesy of Phil Keenan. The inventors not only learned the principles of TRIZ, but turned their knowledge into an award-winning game that teaches TRIZ to children.
  
• If you’ve ever wondered how the interior of pipelines is cleaned, wonder no longer. Abram Teplitskiy, Igor Endovtsev and Igor Shpachenko join to share their experiences in create a device to do this very task in Protecting the Interior Surface of Sewage Pipelines.
  
• Su-field analysis can be challenging for TRIZ beginners. Authors Xiaoming Mao, Xueqing Zhang and Simaan AbouRizk have simplied the 76 standard solutions into seven generalized solutions.
  
• Our last article was presented earlier this year at TRIZCON2007. Once again, the beauty of using merely one aspect of TRIZ benefits an entire industry in Super Effects: The Synergistic Effects of TRIZ by Gunter R. Ladewig and Robert Lyn.
