Extracted from a presentation to the Israel TRIZ Association by Vladimir Petrov in honor of World TRIZ Day, October 15, 2008.

Genrich Saulovich Altshuller was born October 15, 1926 in Tashkent, and died September 24, 1998 in Petrozavodsk.

The author has assembled a timeline of the major events of the development of TRIZ to celebrate World TRIZ Day and Altshuller’s contributions.

1946• Statement and analysis of a problem by Altshuller and R.B. Shapiro
• The basic postulates of TRIZ are formulated:all technical system develop according to objective and knowable laws, and inventive problems can be classified and solved methodically
