I do not understand why this group is asking for the public's help. Shouldn't it already be qualified to make these decisions? It seems like they need a method of innovation to come up with their solution, because technically they should have the knowledge themselves.

S. Prathan,
Actually, I like that this U.S. governmental group asking for the public's help.I just wish that they were more organized about it. When the smae Commerce Department wanted to create a national quality award in the late 1980s, they engaged some of the best minds available. They continue to do so, and the evolution of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award has benefited greatly from someone's foresight in the 1980s to aske for help and to be very organized in doing it.Best regards,InnovationColorado

It isn't that unusual for the US government to allow opportunities for the public to get involved in documents that they create. Even the Military specs have open review sessions but gusess who shows up – representatives of industry making sure that what goes in is at the very lest inert to they way they wish to do business.
It does seem odd that in terms of innovation that you would find it so unusual that getting more people involved is wrong or odd. Because someone asks someone elses opinion it diminishes their stature as an expert on a topic?

I' not sure if you are asking this question of me or InnovationColorado, but if it is me—-I am surprised that they would invite even more confusion by soliciting the help of others. Their first meeting ended with no resolution. They all have different ideas for measuinrg. If they don't-I assume-have an way for defining innovation how can it be measured? Maybe they have more plans and I just do not yet understand the path they are on.

S. Prathan,
If I were addressing InnovationColorado the post would have been indented under that persons post just like yours was indented under mine. My question which you did not respond to was “Because someone asks someone elses opinion it diminishes their stature as an expert on a topic?” Your first post seems a little odd outside of a command and control type environment.
As far as having a meeting without resolution. Why would that be surprizing? We went around on here trying to see what the definition was and got nowhere. This thing is going to go on for months and it probably should since they want to measure something nobody can define. Who cares how many people they ask as long as they get the correct answer.
Just my opinion.
